Fellowship Groups

Meeting points.

Monday Evening
There are at least 16 members in our group. One member attends All Saints' church and the rest St Paul's church. All members are quite active in their churches in a variety of ways.
We meet in different home venues. Studies and worship are shared between the group members and we sing.
Everyone is encouraged to join in with discussions. We sometimes have guest speakers e.g. Derek Searle did a series of evenings last autumn around 'Monasticism' the subject of his book. We have a summer barbecue and a Christmas Praise evening. At least once a term we have a 'bring and share ' praise evening with music and singing.
Many of the group have also joined together for theatre outings e.g. 'Joseph' and 'Proms in the Park'. For more information contact Rae Glenn.

Wednesday Afternoon
This Meeting Point group meets fortnightly at various members’ homes for Bible Study, meditation, worship, prayer and fellowship. We endeavour to support one another in practical ways as well as by prayer, care and sharing. Once a term we share a meal together.
We pray for our link missionaries at St. Paul’s and especially for Will and Doreta Niven, for their family life and their church in Albania. We have had two visits from Will in the course of the year bringing us up to date with their news and prayer needs. We also had a visit from Anne Jenkins who spoke to us about the Christian experiences in her life and work and Peter Philo led us in a study on the work, travels and character of St. Luke. For more information contact Pam Philo

Wednesday Evening
Up to 15 of us meet together on Wednesdays at 8pm in various members’ homes. Our meetings include Bible study, discussion, singing, prayer, something to drink, chatting, and social activities. Over the last year this has included series on the Psalms, Spiritual Gifts, the First Letter of Peter and Faith, Hope and Love. Once again a group of members organised the St Paul’s Christian Aid collections. Other events have included Praise and Prayer, a Communion service, fireworks, a games evening and a barbecue. For more information contact Harold Brown.

Thursday Evening
Our Group meets every Thursday during term-time to study God’s Word, and for praise, prayer and fellowship. There are 18 members (though the usual attendance is 12-15) ranging in age from 15 to over 70.
Since April 2008 we have studied “Jesus – Radical, politically incorrect, socially unacceptable” –with subjects such as ‘Never invite Jesus to organise an expedition’, ‘Never invite Jesus to a multi-faith Meeting’, ‘Never invite Jesus to a hospital’.
During the summer we met to discuss being “Face to Face with Jesus” –studies of people whose lives were changed when they met Christ. This term we are studying “Faith, Hope and Love” –studies from 1 Corinthians, each illustrating one or more of those great gifts. We tackle difficult questions, challenges and issues, and think about how our studies apply to our lives today, - many interesting, and sometimes hilarious, discussions arise most weeks.
We also meet two or sometimes three times each term to enjoy social time together –eating and drinking wine seems to feature quite often on these occasions. The group warmly welcomes new members– we squeeze them in somehow! For more information contact Judy Watson.

Thursday Evening
We are a group of about eleven members and meet on a Thursday evening during school term-time. Our members attend three different churches and seven of our group take it in turns to lead our sessions.
We spent the Summer and Autumn terms with an in-depth study of Romans and the Spring term has been divided between an 8-week course on the Acts of the Apostles and the York Course produced for Lent. For more information contact Jill Thomson.

Mums, Muesli & Marmalade

Children and families can be challenging as well as rewarding at all ages! The trials and the joys you are facing as a Christian Mum can be shared in confidence at Mums Muesli and Marmalade. You never stop being a Mum – your role just changes as your children get older!
Mums, Muesli and Marmalade is a group of Christian women who get together to pray on the first Saturday of each month. We're different ages, not all of us have children, but our concern is to pray for our children, ourselves and our families and also the wider church family.
We start with breakfast (50p) from 8-8.30 am and then one of us shares a Bible thought and then we pray. We’re finished by 9.15. Come and join us, you would be very welcome.
