 PCC Minutes

Please note these are now published on the website (www.stpaulsletchworth.co.uk). Select ‘News & Events’ and then ‘PCC minutes’. Please note they will only be published once they have been agreed at the following meeting, therefore the current minutes are November’s which were agreed at January’s meeting.

Jigsaws

A large box of adult jigsaws were found in the hall last Tuesday. Please contact the church office if you know who they belong to.

Topics for Prayer: March 2010

The revised Prayer Calendar, now called 'Daily Topics for Prayer' is available from today -you will find copies in the Church Porch if you did not receive one as you came into Church. On one side you will find that every day of the week has a specific area for prayer. Within these areas there are four or five bullet points, each highlighting a particular topic for that day. The idea is to focus on, and open our hearts and minds to, the various needs of: the worldwide Anglican Communion; ourselves; the world; our nation; the local community; others; St Paul's. On the other side you will find prayer requests from the Ministry Team and others, for specific events they are involved in. There is also information about the missionaries we support. If you have any questions or comments relating to the new-look Prayer Calendar please let us know. Rev. Margaret Dack; Jill Thomson; Judy Watson

Confirmation of young people

If there are any more young people keen to dig deeper into the Christian faith and consider what confirmation is all about sessions will take place in the Distinctive room in the church hall on Tuesdays at 6.45pm starting on 13 April. The confirmation takes place on 10 May at 8pm at St George’s. See Clare or Amanda for more information.

 Total Encounter

Fun morning 10.30-12.30 for 7-11 year olds on Saturday 15 May. We’re planning a fun morning—holiday club style, inviting children who have previously attended Holiday Club, local school children and our own Encounter Group. This will only be possible with some extra pairs of hands, so if you can help please see Clare or Madeleine (CRB checked is essential).

SIDESMEN and WOMEN

The number of people offering to act as sidesmen/women this year is disappointing. We really need another 4-6 people for the 10 o'clock services. This is a vital role in the church and is not particularly arduous. If you can offer your help please see Huw or phone 643919 asap so that the new rota can be drawn up. New people are most welcome and training will be given. Thank you.

Electoral Roll

From now until 10 April the church electoral roll will be open for the addition of new names. In order to attend the APCM, or to stand for the PCC, your name must be on the electoral roll, which is just a register of our church members. To have your name entered on the roll you must be baptised; be aged 16 or over; and have signed an application form. With a few exceptions you must be a member of the Church of England or of a Church in communion with the Church of England. Forms are available in the church porch, as is a copy of the current electoral roll if you wish to check that you’re on it. You are making no commitment by being on the roll, but it does enable us to keep in touch with you. Completed forms should be returned to Jane Brown or to me. Roger Thomson – PCC Secretary.

APCM – Sunday 25 April

This year there will be 5 vacancies on the Parochial Church Council (PCC). It is not too early to consider whether you would like to be a candidate, or whether you know someone who you think would make a good candidate. The PCC meets 6 times a year and the members serve a 3 year term. Candidates must be on the electoral roll and must be aged 16 or over. With Simon and Louise Moore set to join us in May the next 3 years will be an interesting time to sit on the PCC. Nomination forms are in the church porch and should be returned to me or to one of the churchwardens. Roger Thomson – PCC Secretary.

CHURCH HEATING

The problem has been identified as a need to raise the radiators in the sanctuary. This will not happen in the immediate future. Thank you for your continued patience!
